Career Highlights

Copywriter and Creative Director. Written and/or managed the creative development of projects that have been honored with over 40 awards for creative excellence and outstanding results, including a Gold award for my blog, A New Marketing Commentator, a Silver award for Best Copywriting and a Gold award for Best Tweets from the New England Direct Marketing Association. 

Social Media Practitioner. Early adopter and heavy user of social media, e.g., published over 200 posts on my blog, A New Marketing Commentator (which I launched under a different name in February ’04, put on hiatus in May ’06 and re-launched in July ‘09); active user of LinkedIn (where I have 44 recommendations and over 700 connections); owner of my own Facebook business page (where I have over 240 “likes”); and Twitter user since May 8, 2008 (where I have over 2,600 followers and have tweeted more than 3,000 times).

Manager. Provided inspiration, insight, strategy and support to many different creative teams – comprised of copywriters, designers, traffic coordinators and a variety of external resources – in order to ensure quality, accuracy and punctuality across a wide range of marketing-related deliverables. 

Entrepreneur. Founded and ran own small advertising agency for seven years (successfully completing over 500 projects), taking full responsibility for new business development, public relations, copywriting, creative direction and management of all creative resources.

Author and Commentator. Quoted or published on the subjects of direct marketing, copywriting and blogging in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Boston Business Journal, the Providence Journal, DIRECT Magazine, The ClickZ Network, The DMA Bottom Line, DM NEWS and NEDMA NEWS.

Public Speaker. Drawn on my experience as a Toastmaster (5+ years, including stints as President of two different clubs in ’91 and ’98) to lead dozens of seminars and speak countless times on copywriting, creative direction, direct marketing and social media before anywhere from 25 – 250 people at industry-related events throughout the country as well as for private clients.

Industry Leader and Corporate Citizen. Active as a member of the New England Direct Marketing Association since 1990, having served on the Board of Directors (President, ’99 – ’00) for four consecutive years and contributed as a volunteer in a number of different areas, including event programming and promotion, conference planning and execution, written commentary, public speaking and more.
